Collection: John Egerton
John Egerton studied Design at Scarborough College of Art before training as a teacher at Hornsey College of Art. In 1965 he returned to his native Yorkshire and established his first pottery workshop.
He originally worked in earthenware but in 1970 he switched to oxidised stoneware. By mixing glazes, adding oxides and over-glazing he achieved a wide range of ceramic effects.
John Egerton died in May 2024, having exhibited in the Gallery since shortly after we opened in 1988.
