Debbie Sutcliffe

Born in Saltaire, Yorkshire, Debbie studied briefly at Bath Academy of Art. She soon left to follow her own path, focussing for many years on the human figure and developing her minimalist style, hoping to convey a feeling of contemplative calm.

She is a member of the Society of Wood Engravers, working on both wood and lino, producing limited edition prints which have often been seen in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions.

Now exploring a wider range of subjects, her love of the strength and beauty of a carefully crafted line remains. Recent projects include a limited edition letterpress book, Animals from Antiquity, which features a series of linocuts drawn from the antiquities collections of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum.
