Collection: Austin Wright
Austin Wright shunned publicity but is now recognised as a pivotal figure in the development of British sculpture from 1940 onwards. In 1955 he exhibited with Eduardo Paolozzi, Kenneth Armitage and Elizabeth Frink in the exhibition 'Modern Art in Yorkshire'. The following year the British Council selected him to represent Britain alongside Reg Butler, Lynn Chadwick and Willian Turnbull and was declared 'the most gifted sculptor working in Britain today'.
Austin Wright's artistic estate is now entrusted to Willoughby Gerrish Ltd and his work may be viewed at Thirsk Hall Sculpture Park.
