Collection: Barbara Rae - Prints - 29 August-26 September 2026
We are delighted to welcome back Dame Barbara Rae for a solo exhibition featuring a selection of monotypes and editioned prints.
This exhibition traces journeys across the Arctic, through Europe and closer to home in the Lammermuir Hills. From the sun-drenched hillsides in Spain to the piercing glacial light of the Arctic, these works reflect Rae’s enduring fascination with place, memory and colour.
Throughout her practice, Rae uses printmaking to evoke sensation rather than topography, capturing the passage of weather and the quiet persistence of land and sea. The rich ochres and crimsons of southern Europe suggest heat and tempo, while the silvers and indigos of the Arctic recall stillness and distance. Colour and form become expressions of place, her compositions balancing structure and spontaneity in the way history reshapes the landscape.
Opening celebration Friday 4th September from 6pm
